Disaster Management

Hazards that turn into disasters in lack of vulnerability and exposure reduction, often inflict deadly for particular communities or individual. Inadequate education, awareness, perception towards both natural and manmade hazards often work as a driving factor in such case. Hence, in disaster management field of work it is necessary to address these issues to fill in the gaps still prevailing out there. 

Most research works have focused mainly on the natural hazards like- cyclone, flood and lightening, one of the recent concerns for Bangladesh authority. Bangladesh government has acknowledged lightening as a disaster in 2016 due to the increasing mortality and casualties. So, it was mandatory to look out for people’s knowledge, perception towards it, to conduct any further actions to curb the implications of it. Till now, two quantitative research work has been conducted on relevant communities leading to future work opportunities of its disaster management aspect. Then again, cyclone vulnerability was evaluated in coastal minority group of Bangladesh’s Barguna. A quantitative study like this brought out some significant findings which can be a crucial information to work on for the betterment of this community. Pragmatic and relevant methodology is opted for each of the research work of this disaster management field.
